A Heart Reclaimed
Before it became a space for celebration, the Oldfields Barn was the working heart of this land. Built by the Oldfields family, the original custodians of the estate, the barn began its life as a humble sheep shearing shed. It was here that the rhythms of rural life unfolded — slow, steady, and shaped by the seasons.
The barn was crafted using timber sourced from the surrounding Karri forests. Each beam was felled by hand, hauled into place by horse, and raised with care. The building itself rose gradually from the land, shaped not by haste, but through patience and purpose. Within its walls, sheep were gathered and shorn, wool sorted and packed, and the sounds of quiet industry filled the air.
Time moved forward, and the estate grew around it. Though the tools were put away and the sheep no longer passed through its doors, the barn remained. It was carefully restored, with its original form and materials respected, preserved, and gently renewed. Today, it carries the same bones and spirit, but with a new role — one that speaks to joy, connection, and memory.
The barn now welcomes couples and guests for weddings, milestones, and gatherings beneath its old timber frame. Where wool was once weighed, vows are now spoken.
