Karri Lookout

The Karri lookout is a secluded hike that takes you through the towering Karri forest along the infamous Biblimum track. It is a moderate walk that can continue right through the forest however its most memorable destination stops after approximately thirty minutes. Located near the Gloucester tree, you can simply park at the landmarks car park and walk the track shown below to reach the gem!

The lookout is unmarked but at the top of the hill you will see a sign pointing back to the Gloucester tree and the most spectacular valley of Karri trees in all of Pemberton. Once you reach the sign, turn back around. It is a sight that is often missed in travellers journey to this area, one of Pemberton’s true hidden gems.

This pristine isolated beach located in the D’entrecasteaux national park is one of the most beautiful sights in the Pemberton region. Salmon beach is renowned for its stunning sunset views that often colour the water in hues of warm pinks and reds, true to the name. With remarkable ocean views and ancient coastal cliffs surrounding it, this location is the scenic ideal destination for a picnic or photography site.

It is located only a few kilometres west of the Windy Harbour townsite and accessible via car, taking approximately an hour to travel from Ampersand Estates. It is well worth the trip and an experience you definitely don’t want to miss!

This site is not suited for swimming and is in such pristine condition due to the care and consideration of patrons. So please, only leave your footsteps in the sandy beach!

Salmon Beach

Tookalup lookout is the most stunning sunset lookout in Windy Harbour, overlooking the great Southern coastline it provides a spectacular backdrop for a relaxing evening. This site is perfect for a picnic and glass of Ampersand wine after a long day of travelling to all our amazing Hidden Gems and is suitable for the entire family. Located an hour away from our estate, the scenic drive to this site in Windy Harbour is a beautiful trip with many amazing stops along the way. Taking you deep into the heart of the Pemberton forest, Heartbreak trail is the most scenic, memorable tourist drive in all of Pemberton. It is a 12km drive that winds through the beautiful Karri forest and takes you along the Warren River. You can get off at the infamous ‘Drafty’s Campsite’ to walk along the rivers tracks, whilst swimming isn’t advised, it is the perfect destination to bring a canoe or kayak and take a trip down the river. If you haven’t brought equipment with you, there are tours and services that offer a guided experience which you can find in our hidden gems activity section.

The ‘Warren Lookout’ at the top of the Heartbreak Trail is also well worth adding into your trip to the trail. It overlooks the winding Warren river in a magnificent valley of Karri trees and on a clear day, provides a view right to the beaches of Yeagarup! If you can’t make the climb of the Gloucester of Bicentennial tree, this easy to access lookout offers an alternative view of Pemberton’s amazing national forest.

Holberry sculpture walk is located in Nannup at the lower gardens of the Holberry house just a five minute walk from the Nannup townsite. It is a showcase of West Australian art pieces surrounded by beautiful gardens. The artwork is all for sale and visitors are encouraged to bring a book or picnic to enjoy the serene location.

Hidden amongst the giant trees of Karri Valley, Beedelup Falls is an enchanting sight of rocky cascades that flow with water during the Winter season. This site is only a 300m walk from a bitumen car park, the easy access making it suitable for all people. The walk around Beedelup takes approximately 30 minutes, however you can easily get lost in the charm and spend hours as the trail takes you around the falls.

There is also a 4.5km hike that takes you through the stunning native forest of Beedelup to Karri Valley Resort where you can stop for lunch before making your way back! Only a fifteen minute drive from Ampersand Estates, Beedelup Falls is the perfect addition to a fun day out!
