Ampersand Estates Featured in Food & Wine
Six years ago, Ampersand Estates began with a bold vision: to reimagine a historic Pemberton property and create an experience where exceptional wine, spirits, food, nature and luxury could exist together.
Now, that story has been shared with the world by Food & Wine, in a feature by acclaimed Australian food and travel writer Larissa Dubecki titled Australia’s Ultimate Winery Experience Is an All-Inclusive Vineyard and Distillery Stay.
From Pemberton’s First Winery to a New Kind of Estate
In 2020, we took on a dilapidated estate dating back to the 1870s and home to Pemberton’s first winery. Six years on, Ampersand is home to award-winning cool-climate wines, Rainfall Distillery, three heritage retreats and an all-inclusive estate experience that brings it all together.
The feature journeys through this transformation, from private wine tastings and Southern Forests produce to cocktail classes overlooking the estate, degustation dining, open-fire cooking and the gardens where thousands of plants are being cultivated for Rainfall Distillery.
We’re also working towards an ambition particularly close to us: what we believe will be the world’s first truly single-estate spirits, with every ingredient grown or sourced here on the property.
An Ultimate Winery Experience
The feature comes following another important milestone for Ampersand: our inclusion in Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia, joining a collection of the country’s most respected wine destinations.
For us, it represents exactly what Ampersand was created to be. A place that goes beyond the traditional cellar door, where guests can stay among the vines, understand where their wine and spirits come from, experience the produce of the Southern Forests and connect with the landscape in ways possible only here.
