Founded in 2020 by Melissa Bell, originally from the United States, and Corrie Scheepers, born in South Africa, Ampersand Estates was created from a shared vision to reimagine the region’s oldest winery. With bold entrepreneurial spirit and a creative eye for detail, they transformed the historic estate into a destination of rare beauty and distinction. Today, Ampersand Estates is recognised as one of Australia’s top 10 winery stays — a true gem in the South West.

Rainfall Distillery, just one of the many diverse offerings of the Estate, offers premium gin and vodka spirits made from local botanicals in the region. The branding was designed to reflect the rainbow of the LGBTQIA+ community and to further emphasize the key value of the company – authenticity.

The Homestead accommodates up to 10 guests with five bedrooms, each with their own ensuite, and a fully functioning stocked kitchen, (plates, glassware, utensils and cleaning products) dining and living area and outdoor deck with barbeque facilities.

Ampersand Cellar Door welcomes guests for seated tastings, 11am to 4pm, seven days a week. Reservations are essential, booked online at least 24 hours ahead; we’re no longer able to welcome walk-in visitors. Tastings are open to accommodation guests and booked day visitors alike.
Rainfall Distillery is located at Ampersand Estates where Rainfall vodka and gin is produced. You can book tastings of the spirits at the Cellar Door where you can also purchase the products. You can buy the products online here.
There’s no separate restaurant, but private dining is included in your stay. Our estate chef prepares a seated degustation dinner each evening, along with breakfast and lunch, throughout The Ampersand Estates Experience.

Check-in commences from 3pm and check-out is at 10am. Due to being a small business with a limited team, variances to these times is not available.
Please conclude at 11pm for midnight at the latest. Fines may be incurred outside of these times.

The Estate boasts a functional helipad where many engagements have been celebrated. Views of the Estate, the Karri forests and the Donnelly River from the air are absolutely breath-taking and are a fabulous prelude to a tasting at the cellar door.

Located 45 minutes from the Estate, the Busselton Margaret River Airport connects the eastern states of NSW and VIC to the region with direct flights operating multiple times a week.
Private luxury transfers
If a self-drive journey from the airport isn’t your style, why not hire a private charter to get you from A-Z. From premium vans to a Rolls Royce, there are a range of options to choose from to suit families, couples and groups.
It’s important to keep in mind that if you want to explore the region you will need a car to get around so car hire should factor into your plans. If you would like a recommendation on providers, email our Experience Team and we can coordinate options for you.
Your stay includes exclusive use of your residence, a private wine tasting with access to our museum collection, a chef-prepared degustation dinner plus breakfast and lunch daily, free-flowing wines and spirits, a Rainfall Distillery tour and cocktail masterclass, and full estate and wellness access.
